Introduction: Aging Water Infrastructure, A Global Concern
Introducción: Infraestructura de Agua Envejecida, un Problema Global
Cities around the world are under pressure to upgrade aging water systems, especially in regions where the infrastructure dates back to the mid-20th century. In South America, the situation is especially urgent. Decades-old pipelines are corroded, inefficient, and prone to failure—causing water loss, service interruptions, and public dissatisfaction.
In central Argentina, a municipality managing water supply for over a million residents faced this exact challenge. The water lines in one residential district had been in service for more than 60 years. Frequent leaks, emergency repairs, and water discoloration became common issues.
That’s when the city’s municipal contractor initiated a pipeline rehabilitation project—and we were brought in to deliver customized, American standard-compliant pipe fittings, tailored specifically to match outdated connections, while meeting today’s performance, safety, and compliance standards. Why Replacing Old Water Pipelines Matters
Por Qué Es Importante Reemplazar las Antiguas Tuberías de Agua
Pipelines installed in the 1960s or earlier were not designed for today’s population, water pressure, or environmental conditions. The materials used—typically early-generation ductile iron or cast iron—are now outdated and often corroded, cracked, or misaligned due to decades of ground shifting.
➤ Water Loss and Health Risks
➤ Pérdidas de Agua y Riesgos para la Salud
In many Latin American cities, non-revenue water loss exceeds 35–40%, often due to leaky joints, fractured pipes, and outdated fittings. These losses not only strain resources but also raise health concerns when contaminated water enters the distribution system through damaged points.
Project Background: An Urgent Modernization Drive
Antecedentes del Proyecto: Una Modernización Urgente
The municipality undertook a major overhaul of 7.2 kilometers of buried water mains. The scope included full excavation, removal of corroded pipelines, and integration of new HDPE and ductile iron pipe segments.
The main engineering challenge was compatibility: many existing joints, bends, and reducers followed 1960s-era dimensions and non-standard flanges. The project required precision-fit pipe fittings that could be installed without major rework or system redesign—all while complying with NSF 61 and ISO standards for potable water.

Logistics and Delivery: From Factory to Argentina Without Delay
Logística y Entrega: Desde la Fábrica hasta Argentina sin Retrasos
Given the municipal contractor’s tight construction window, on-time delivery was critical. Delays would cause street closures and public backlash.
Our logistics team coordinated:
• Production in under 5 weeks including customization
• International shipping under DDP terms (Córdoba delivery)
• Real-time shipping updates for the contractor’s planning team
• Hassle-free clearance via complete compliance documentation and harmonized tariff codes
All goods arrived intact, on schedule, and passed on-site quality inspections.
Support and Installation Success
Soporte en Sitio y Éxito en la Instalación
Even the best-engineered parts can fail if improperly installed. Our technical team remained on standby during commissioning, offering support through:
• Torque specification guidance
• Joint lubrication compatibility checks
• Correct gasket positioning
• Re-tightening advice post-hydrotest
The result: zero leakage, seamless fit, and no field rework required.
