Rising Stem Gate Valve (OS&Y) for Reliable Flow Isolation

C-Way Engineering Exports manufactures and supplies Rising Stem Gate Valves with Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) construction for industrial piping, process plants, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, water, and utility applications.

A Rising Stem Gate Valve, commonly called an OS&Y Gate Valve, is designed to isolate flow in industrial piping systems. As the valve opens, the stem moves upward. As it closes, the stem moves back down. This visible stem movement gives operators a quick indication of valve position.

OS&Y stands for Outside Screw and Yoke. The stem and operating mechanism are located outside the valve body, making the assembly accessible for operation and inspection. This design is widely used where clear valve-position indication and dependable isolation are important.

C-Way supplies Rising Stem Gate Valves in carbon steel, cast steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, ductile iron, duplex, super duplex and other materials, depending on the application.

Valve configurations can include solid wedge, flexible wedge, split wedge and parallel slide designs, with bolted bonnet or pressure-seal construction where required.

Typical applications include oil and gas pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants, water treatment facilities, steam systems, process piping and industrial utility systems.

Features of Our Rising Stem Gate Valve

  • Visible Valve PositionThe rising stem provides a clear visual indication of valve movement, making it easier for operators to identify the valve's open or closed position.
  • Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y)The operating screw and yoke remain outside the pressure-containing body, providing convenient access for operation, inspection and maintenance.
  • Full-Bore Flow PathWhen fully open, the gate moves out of the main flow passage. This helps reduce flow restriction and pressure loss through the valve.
  • Reliable IsolationGate valves are designed primarily for full-open or full-closed service, providing dependable isolation when properly selected for the application.
  • Bi-Directional ServiceAppropriate gate and seat configurations can provide shut-off in either direction, making the valve suitable for many industrial piping systems.
  • Heavy-Duty ConstructionThe valve can be manufactured in carbon steel, cast steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and other materials to meet demanding pressure, temperature and corrosion requirements.
  • Multiple Gate DesignsDepending on the application, C-Way can supply solid wedge, flexible wedge, split wedge or parallel slide configurations.
  • Manual and Automated OperationRising Stem Gate Valves are available with handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic actuator or electric/motorized actuator operation.
